They normally open when the engine reaches running temperature but can adapt depending on driving style, unless the motor is kaput, the fuse has blown or the AGS has been coded out. As you say, you have Venetian blinds, the G30 has rotating grill uprights like Vertical Blinds and some have what appears to be a roller blind going up behind the grill, but is actually just a rotating flap. The type of active grill shutter depends on the model.
